Cowboy Christmas was born
not built. It is not, as some believe, a clever new product thrown into the Christmas marketplace. Nor is it just a cute catchy phrase for a large rodeo in July.
It was not manufactured to sell or impress, it has a history, a story to tell.
And so it was born.
Amidst the clatter of the 1800’s the dreaming America awoke to find wide spread unemployment, economic depression and cholera. For many, Jefferson's early visions of western expansion provided a bright ray of hope and an offer too good to pass up. So the ever wandering America shook off her cities and small towns, packed up her families, her china plates, rocking chairs and feather beds and she went West.
The rag-tag band of dreamers were now on a trail of adventure that would not only change the face of the country but her identity as well.
And so, the United States of America came 2000 miles pushing carts and walking alongside cloth covered wagons; she came on water and on foot; she arrived wind-burnt and half frozen, weary, hungry and in rags. The lifeline of a trail she followed, at times, took her family, her flesh and patience, her tears, tried the bounds of her hope and as the miles wore on it lay claim to the china and rockers as well, as bit by bit the pieces of the old life gave way and were abandoned by the side of the road.
But one thing did not fall from the wagon, nor was it traded for supplies. Oddly, even in spite of its enormity it was never thought too cumbersome, even for the smallest and weakest of hands. In fact it was eagerly sought, and shared, for it was commonly known to bring happiness to all who carried it. It was never broken or mislaid nor buried in some hasty unmarked grave. It traveled the full length of this journey.
It was just too precious to lose.
It was Christmas.
